The Year of the Bracelet

The Year of the EMBrace-let: 2024

In the ever-evolving world of personal adornment, 2024 emerges as the year of the bracelet. It seems as though our wrists, once neglected and overshadowed by an array of stacking necklaces, have finally found their rightful place in our jewelry boxes/hearts. As we bid farewell to the era of the necklace, we welcome the quiet elegance and understated charm of adorning our wrists with meaning and metal.

Perhaps it is the yearning for simplicity and subtlety that has propelled the bracelet to its newfound prominence. In this ‘reeking’ world (for lack of a better word) where we can truly have everything all the time, less is more. So while the fashion pendulum may have swung in favor of “quiet luxury” for now, let this be your sign to adopt the effortlessly aligned bracelet forever and always.

It could also be that our wrists have become the last untouched canvas of self-expression. While our hands tirelessly toil (or type) and our fingers bear the weight of responsibility, our wrists offer a sanctuary—a space that remains untouched by the hard work endured by our hands. Yet, this space still serves as a gentle reminder of self-appreciation throughout the day, as glimpses of our adorned wrists catch our eye.

Bracelets, like any piece of jewelry, come in a delightful variety of styles, each offering its level of comfort and uniqueness to the wearer. If you find yourself browsing online or seeking guidance while searching for that perfect bracelet. Here are some of my favorite tips to assist you in your quest:

  • Measure your wrist with a piece of string (make the string as loose as you are planning to wear the bracelet and report that along with the measurement of your actual wrist).

  • Measure in cm (as opposed to inches).

  • Is your wrist bony? If so, then a thick cuff bracelet might fit you differently than others.

  • Most designers have unique sizing schemes— if you are at all unsure about your size let them know. They may send you sizers or have you self-report your aforementioned string size.

So, as the bracelet holds sway in the year 2024, let us take this opportunity to and adorn our wrists with meaning. Whether seeking solace, embracing subtle joys, or simply adding a touch of elegance to our lives, let our wrists tell a tale of their own—a tale of quiet moments, love, lineage, history, and resilience. Embracelet all that is, and it will embracelet you back.
